Material Requests and Supplier Quotations

Post a material request, collect quotations from suppliers, and compare them line by line before awarding. Procurement on FRELUX starts from quantities you already calculated, so a supplier is quoting against a defined scope rather than an approximate list.

How a request runs

  1. Create the request: the materials, the quantities, the delivery location and the date you need them on site
  2. Suppliers respond: each quotation arrives against the same lines, which is what makes them comparable
  3. Compare: price, availability, delivery date and any substitutions a supplier proposes, shown next to each other
  4. Award: the winning quotation is recorded against the request, and the rest stay on file as evidence of what else was available

Why the request is the important part

Three quotations that describe different things cannot be compared, and that is the usual failure in construction buying. One supplier quotes 50 kg cement bags at a delivered rate, another quotes per tonne collected, a third substitutes a different strength grade without saying so. Starting from a structured request removes most of that ambiguity before it happens, and any substitution becomes a visible line rather than a surprise at delivery.

Records that survive the project

Each request keeps its quotations, the award decision and the delivery dates. When a final account is queried, or a supplier disputes what was agreed, the file answers the question. That is worth more than the few percent saved by taking the cheapest verbal quote.
